THEY DID NOT TORTURE WHEN THEY TORTURED EITHER

For those of you who keep track of the comparisons between our current regime and a certain regime from germany in the 30's and 40's check out The Atlantic on line:

"Verschärfte Vernehmung"

Andrew Sullivan compares the terminology and techniques of "enhanced techniques" (AKA we do not torture when we are torturing).... with certain German methods used about 60 years ago...
According to Sullivan:
"The phrase "Verschärfte Vernehmung" is German for "enhanced interrogation". Other translations include "intensified interrogation" or "sharpened interrogation". It's a phrase that appears to have been concocted in 1937, to describe a form of torture that would leave no marks, and hence save the embarrassment pre-war Nazi officials were experiencing as their wounded torture victims ended up in court. The methods, as you can see above, are indistinguishable from those described as "enhanced interrogation techniques" by the president. As you can see from the Gestapo memo, moreover, the Nazis were adamant that their "enhanced interrogation techniques" would be carefully restricted and controlled, monitored by an elite professional staff, of the kind recommended by Charles Krauthammer, and strictly reserved for certain categories of prisoner. At least, that was the original plan."

I saw this article too and saw today that it was linked to multiple times, thankfully. I contacted Bill Nelson's (D-FL) office in Florida today too to voice my disgust for his vote which, along with unanimous GOP opposition, ended Senator Feingold's anti-torture bill.

I can see why you would want to remain anonymous when you say things like "grill an islamist...." .

Today a plot was broken up to blow up JFK airport. I ask you terror lovers to defend the actions of those that would blow up women and children as they sat in an airport terminal. Please defend them.

In the next few weeks congress will be looking at several bills to restore Habeas Corpus... Please contact your senators and representatives and ask them to restore habeas corpus now.

No answer to my question? Hard to defend a terror plot against women and children isn't it?

To anonymous Greg,
It is hard to defend a terror plot against women and chidren. Which is why I do not support the war in Iraq or the mistreatment of detainees at an prison--the biggest terrorist that I can see right now is George W. Bush. While you are enjoying your barbeques and summer fun, remember that there are people in the world who are hungry and have to go to bed every night with bombs landing all around them. And your tax dollars paid for it.
